- Culturally Aware
- Commit to a practice
- Seek joy
A client that has been intentional in fostering their corporate culture can determine if the three other key markers of an ideal P2A client are in alignment. The corporate and team culture must align in creating the project governance. If the culture of the company requires alignment of all department heads in order to make a decision, this will impact project cadence and steering committee make-up. If the project culture asks the question “Tell me why this won’t work” for designs, this approach needs business buy-in. Ideal clients are able to communicate their culture and are willing to incorporate it into the project foundation.
The ideal client understands that strategic direction – and the supporting decisions – must be committed to in order to ensure project alignment. Therefore decisions are made with solid knowledge of the pros/cons and impacts. Once a decision is made, everyone aligns to it for the sake of the project, regardless of personal opinions.
“The risk of a wrong decision is preferable to the terror of indecision.” Maimonides
Commit to Practice
Practice can mean the application of a method (vs. a theory) and repeated exercise to maintain or gain proficiency. Both necessitate a commitment to regular action. The method does not have to be rigid or inflexible, but it does have to be repeatable and applied by all for the team to demonstrate agility. By definition, a method requires a degree of governance to it’s adherence. The playbook defines the method but the team must practice governance of the method. If the client’s culture honors the method through governance, then the team is more likely to adhere to it as well.
Seek Joy through Work
Company leaders that seek joy in business know what behaviors result in success and find joy in facilitating those behaviors across their team. Even leaders that will consider fostering joy at work are great to work with – intention matters! Leadership that seeks joy is generally more positive, which facilitates improved practice and performance. Gratitude, Commitment, Encouragement, Confidence… we look for clients that support their teams and find joy in the practice of and results of that support. That is part of our philosophy as a company and when we align with clients and teams that believe the same, we succeed beyond expectations. If you are looking to add a bit more joy to the life of your team, we can help facilitate that through project work.
